A hotel deal is a must. The money you can save by finding a hotel deal can be spent on added adventure and maybe a dinner out. Many hotels offer deals throughout the year for their guests. Also, if you have the choice, don't travel over the weekend. Rates are much higher on Friday's and Saturday's then they are any other day of the week. Lastly, make reservations and book ahead. If you just show up, you are likely to pay additional fees then if you make the reservations even a few days ahead of time.
